Story

The 1967 International C1800 "ButterBox".

Johnston's Transport is a Sydney based company established in 1900 and still to this day is family owned. Johndton's Transport played an important role in the erection of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

This Truckwas originally badged with Alert Transport Bankstown, a division of Johnston's transport and later re-badged. If you look closely you can still make out the faint outline of Bankstown on the door.

This truck was one of approximately twenty of this type used with a portable tank delivering oil and kerosene to homes across Sydney. The battery isolator lever still remains in the dash. In addition ot fuel they also delivered packaged goods to BP Service Stations.

In the mid 1970's Bill Foley of Lacmalac purchased this truck from Sydney for use on his farm and delivering stock to Wagga Wagga saleyards. Interesting stories were shared such as the use of chains to get from one set of yards to the next due to the wet. And travelling back from Wagga Wagga saleyards in the rain only to have the windscreen shatter to pieces. The last registration label still had shards of glass as it came to rest on the floor. She was later parked up in a shed for approximately 10 years.

In December os 2016 the truck was purchased by Keith Sheather of Adelong with the intention of preserving her and has placed her on Club registration so she can be shared.
